While Vegas might be the gambling capital of the world, the rest of the US isn’t such a gambler’s paradise. There are approximately 1,500 casinos in the States, and between them, Las Vegas (2880 and Atlantic City (9) account for 297.

This leaves only 1,200 casinos spread out across a territory more than twice the size of Europe. In contrast, although there are no official figures, the old continent is home to well over 1,000 casinos, including some of the oldest in the world.

From the glittering lights of Monaco to the vibrant energy of London, here we’ll take a look at 5 of the biggest and best European casinos.

Dragonara Casino

At number 5, we have the Dragonara Casino in Malta. The casino has a long and rich history, having been established in 1964 in the grand ballroom of a 19th-century palace. Today, it boasts 300 slot machines and table games, including roulette, poker, and blackjack.

The casino is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, and it has even been used as a filming location for various movies and TV shows.

Resorts World

At number 4, we have Resorts World in Birmingham, UK. This casino is part of a larger entertainment complex that includes 14 restaurants and bars, 50 outlet stores, and an 11-screen cinema. The casino itself boasts 59,180 sq ft of gaming space, including 100 slot machines and 31 table games.

The games on offer include roulette, blackjack, and baccarat, and there are also two luxurious Salon Priveés for high-stakes gamblers.

King’s Resort

Number 3 on our list is King’s Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic. This casino is a poker player’s paradise, with the largest poker room in Europe boasting 160 poker tables and daily tournaments. The casino also has regular table games such as blackjack, craps, and roulette and over 300 slot machines. The casino has a Finnish sauna, steam bath, and pool for those who want to relax after a long day of gambling.

Casino Estoril

At number 2, we have the Casino Estoril in Portugal, the largest casino in Europe. Located outside Lisbon on the Portuguese Riviera, the casino boasts more than 1,000 slot machines and table games, including roulette, blackjack, baccarat, and the Portuguese favourite Banca Francesa. Ian Fleming drew inspiration for his first novel, Casino Royale, which featured the first appearance of James Bond, from this casino. The casino also features a unique art gallery and hosts concerts at the 1,000-seat Salão Preto e Prata.

Casino de Monte Carlo

And finally, at number 1, we have the iconic Casino de Monte Carlo in Monaco. This casino has been immortalized in movies such as 1983’s Never Say Never Again and 1995’s Goldeneye, and for good reason. The casino boasts 108,000 sq ft of gaming space spread across seven unique salons, offering games such as roulette, blackjack, craps, baccarat, and the French classic Trente et Quarante. The casino also boasts seven restaurants, including the 3 Michelin-star Le Louis XV.

Europe Is The Place To Be

As you can see, European casinos offer a rich and diverse range of entertainment to rival any in the world. From the historic opulence of Casino Baden-Baden to the modern entertainment complex of Resorts World, there is something for every type of gambler. So if you are planning a road trip with a bit of gambling on the side, Europe is the place to be.
